Somerset, UK. (Apr 21)
We decided to take advantage of the amazing weather and head off to the cottage in Somerset for a quiet but active weekend.
I know I’m so lucky to have this on my doorstep, but I still pinch myself on occasions as this region is so beautiful with so much elbow room. Social distancing is never a problem here!
We managed to get “out out” on three, socially distanced occasions. The first on Friday night for a locally produced ale or two in my local village brewery, the second on Saturday and a well deserved pit stop (half way into a 54km cycle ride) at the King Alfred, near Burrow Mump where we stopped for a nice refreshing cider, and the third, this morning and a traditional English cream tea with scrumptious scones (and whortleberry jam) ahead of a four hour circular walk from Selworthy to Bossington via Selworthy Beacon. Amazing views over Porlock Bay!
Somerset and north Devon were looking splendid and just about to burst into life.
Emma found oodles of wild garlic en route. We now have a bag full ready to be used in a meal tomorrow!
